Give a man a fish OR teach a man to fish

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish and you’ll feed him for a lifetime.

I have all heard this proverb many times in my life and I totally agree with it.  Unfortunately, I haven’t always practiced it.  It’s so much easier for me to “give a man a fish” because I am so busy and I don’t want to take the time to “teach a man to fish”.  Then I get frustrated because I don’t see any change in that person or situation.

Do you struggle with the same thing?  Do you want to help someone but you know it’s going to take a lot more time than you have or want to give?

Tonight I was at a Rotary Club meeting and a friend of mine quoted this proverb.  He has someone in his life that he has given a lot of fish.  He wasn’t seeing positive results.  A couple of months ago, he decided to start teaching her how fish instead.  He bought her a few sessions so that she and I could work together.  It is changing her life!

Do you know someone who is struggling financially?  Maybe they have a lot of debt.  Maybe they don’t have any money in savings.  Maybe they don’t have a clue where their money is going.  You want to help them but you have no clue where to start.  You know that they need someone who will sit down with them on a regular basis and teach them how to manage their finances.

That is what I do.  I love helping people simplify their finances.  I love helping people get their head above water financially.  I want to help people get out of debt.  I want to help them learn to give and save more than they ever thought possible.  I want others to start investing in the future instead of paying off the past.

Are you ready to change someone’s life?  Want to know what you can do TODAY?
